Northern Superchargers will be entirely held by Sun TV Network for £100.5M

Sun TV Network is expanding its footprint in global sports with plans to acquire a 100% stake in Northern Superchargers for £100.5 million (over ₹1,000 crore).

Northern Superchargers is part of “The Hundred”, a cricket league for limited overs cricket promoted by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

The acquisition was approved by the company’s Board of Directors at its meeting held on July 18, 2025. Upon completion, Northern Superchargers will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Sun TV Network.

The deal is expected to be completed by December this year. The company noted that Northern Superchargers Limited is already profitable, and expressed confidence in the commercial potential of The Hundred, citing increasing global viewership and sponsorship interest.

This follows Sun TV Network’s earlier disclosure on February 6, 2025, announcing that it had won the bid to acquire the Leeds-based franchise—one of the eight teams in The Hundred.

Sun TV Network already owns Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Sunrisers Eastern Cape in South Africa’s SA20 League. The acquisition of Northern Superchargers further extends its international reach into the UK market and aligns with its broader strategy to build a robust presence in the global cricket economy.
